The Salcombe Yawl
The Salcombe Yawl is a traditional 16ft sailing/racing dinghy unique to Salcombe Devon, simply rigged with furling jib and ideal for a family or just a couple. Clinker construction, mahogany on elm frames. You can use this dinghy either to race or simply just to cruise with the family. The Salcombe Yawl comes complete with aux outboard engine, 10 ft rowing tender, cruising and racing sails, mooring & life jackets. All for £420 per week.
Ibis is an 18ft Traditional Harbour Launch with an inboard engine. Ibis was built of pitch pine on oak frames by the famous cornish boat builder Percy Mitchell in Mevagissy, Cornwall in 1939, the year World War 2 broke out. She fished comercially all her working life from Mevagissy, she is still registered in Fowey, Cornwall. Ibis came to Salcombe in 2000 when her fishing career was over and was completley refitted and fitted with a beautiful vintage Lister diesel engine which burns about a gallon a week. She comes with a mooring, dinghy and a full tank of fuel, licensed for 8 and supplied with life jackets. All for £420 per week. Stable, reliable boating.
- Hirers must have previous Dinghy Sailing experience but certificates not required.
- Salcombe moorings available on a weekly basis. Salcombe or East Portlemouth side.
Sailing tuition also available by the day or half day in a traditional Salcombe Yawl Y79 or just be taken for a leisurely sail around the harbour in safe hands. For up to 5 people.
